Edwin Pounds & Sons Community Fund Opens to Support Local Good Causes

Community groups and charities across Bradford and Keighley are being invited to apply for funding that could help make a real difference locally.

Edwin Pounds & Sons Funeral Directors has launched the first round of its Community Fund for 2026, offering a total of up to £5,000 to support projects that benefit people living within the communities it serves.

The fund will be delivered in two rounds, with grants available for initiatives based within a three-mile radius of the funeral homes in Greengates, Wibsey, Sandbeds and Keighley. The aim is to support local activity that strengthens communities and improves quality of life.

Projects applying for funding should focus on at least one of four key areas: Health, Education, Employment opportunities and Poverty and social deprivation.

The first round of applications is now open, with entries closing on Sunday 31 May.

This latest funding follows a successful programme in 2025, when the Keighley and Sandbeds locations —then operating as Melia Powell Funeral Service—supported a number of well-loved local organisations.

These included Missing Peace Wellbeing & Support, Airedale Hospital & Community Charity’s Haematology & Oncology Day Unit, and Hainworth Wood Community Centre.

Zoe Smith, Funeral Arranger at Edwin Pounds & Sons, said: “We’re proud to be part of the communities we serve, and it’s a privilege to support organisations that are making such a positive difference locally. This funding is about helping projects that bring people together and provide meaningful support, and we’d encourage any local groups with an idea to apply.”

Applications are open now, and groups of all sizes are encouraged to put themselves forward if they have a project that could benefit from a helping hand.
